The Los Angeles Police Department has been busy lately, conducting a series of raids and arrests involving narcotics suspects. A major drug bust recently happened at the residence of an alleged drug kingpin in Cerritos. Police maintain that the arrested individual headed a drug ring that supplied cocaine, heroin, and methamphetamine in downtown LA.

Seized One-Dollar Bills

The arrest came after police served a search warrant and allegedly found a large stash of $1-dollar bills amounting to $600,000 at the suspect’s home. Police said that the large amount in dollar bills corroborate their theory that the suspect operated a drug ring that sold illegal narcotics to homeless communities affected by drug addiction.

Investigators said that they received information that the suspect was armed with a high-powered AK-47 and a rifle. But police did not confirm whether firearms or drugs were recovered at the suspects’ home.

Drug Crime Defense

A drug charge can have serious consequences if convicted. Felony convictions often carry long years of jail time, huge fines, and a criminal record that can prevent you from obtaining quality employment, housing, and education.

If you are charged with a drug crime, it’s vital to seek the help of an experienced criminal defense attorney who can put up all available drug crime defenses to free you from criminal liability and clear your name.

Importance of Criminal Defense Attorney

Depending on the circumstances of your situation, your attorney can develop an effective drug crime defense strategy using potential irregularities in the search and arrest, lack of credibility of witnesses, weakness of any evidence against you, and other procedural maneuvers in court.

Your lawyer can also examine the charges against you and weigh the government’s evidence as well. In certain situations, evidence may point towards a lesser offense such as a reduced drug charge of misdemeanor possession of concentrated cannabis, methamphetamine, or of a controlled substance. In any case, you should always seek the advice of an drug crime defense attorney before entering any plea or agreement in plea bargaining.
