An alleged drunk driver was arrested after being caught on video striking a series of vehicles at nearly 100 miles per hour. The driver reportedly fled the scene after his passenger was ejected from the car. The driver was arrested at his home several hours after the crash by law enforcement.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the alleged drunk driver was traveling at high speeds in Historic South-Central Los Angeles when he hit a line of six parked vehicles. The crash left a string of damaged cars and seriously injured a passenger who was ejected from his vehicle.

The vehicle was carrying six passengers along South Central Avenue near the intersection of East 33rd Street in the early morning hours of Feb. 17. The police believe that the driver lost control at high speed, which led to the collision. Most of the wreck was caught on video. Surveillance recordings show the driver spin four times after losing control and skidding for more than 80 feet before coming to a stop just before the intersection.

The driver was arrested on a charge of felony driving under the influence, and his bail was set at $100,000. Media reports did not indicate whether the driver is being represented by a defense attorney.

An experienced DUI defense attorney may be able to help a defendant like the man in this case by reviewing the facts and crafting a defense. In many cases, an attorney may negotiate with the district attorney to lower the charges. In some cases, an attorney may be able to convince a prosecutor to dismiss a criminal charge entirely if evidence is insufficient or police procedures were followed incorrectly.
